Lockheed Martin replace discontinued Cisco Access Servers with Perle Console Servers
Cisco 2509 Access Servers replaced with Perle Console Servers.
NASHVILLE, TN - April 23th, 2013 — Perle Systems, a global provider of advanced serial to Ethernet and secure device networking solutions, reveals that Lockheed Martin chose Perle IOLAN Console Servers to replace discontinued Cisco 2509 Access Servers.
John Rumbles, Engineer at Lockheed Martin was faced with replacing numerous discontinued Cisco 2509 Access Servers across the UK. A straightforward option was to replace the 2509’s with newer Cisco 2610 Access Servers, but due partially to budget restraints he decided to research what else was available in the market. As long as the replacement product could be dropped into the existing application, without replacing any cabling, he was open to alternative solutions at a more competitive price.
After extensive testing, the Perle IOLAN SCS C Console Servers were chosen by Lockheed Martin as a replacement for the discontinued Cisco 2509’s. John realised that the Perle Console Servers did everything he needed them to do at a fraction of the cost of the Cisco 2610 Access Servers. Perle Console Servers proved to be a high quality, reliable and secure alternative.
“We have helped thousands of companies who were previously unaware that there are alternatives to Cisco for in-band and out-of-band management of networking equipment with serial console ports,” comments John Feeney, Chief Operating Officer at Perle Systems. “A Cisco for Cisco replacement is not always the most effective solution.”
