Perle Launches Industrial Ethernet Switches
With over 200 models, Perle claims to have the broadest range of Unmanaged DIN Rail Switches on the market today.
NASHVILLE, TN - April 10th, 2014 — Perle Systems, a global manufacturer of advanced Ethernet over Fiber and secure device networking solutions, announces its entry into the Industrial Ethernet Switch marketplace. Industrial-grade Ethernet Switches are specially designed to stand up to the extreme temperatures, vibrations, and shocks found in industrial automation, government, military, marine, rail, oil and gas, mining and outdoor applications. By launching over 200 models, Perle now clams the title of having the broadest range of Unmanaged Industrial Switches available on the market today.
“This is a go big or go home attack”, says John Feeney, COO at Perle Systems. “With over 3 decades of experience selling into industrial environments, we know each user has unique requirements. Our plan is to offer every conceivable model to meet these needs. We will be their one stop shop.”
All Perle DIN Rail Switches are rugged fanless devices that are hardened to provide superior reliability in 0 to 60°C, or harsh extended operating temperatures from -40 to 75°C.
Over the years, while providing solutions to the industrial market place, Perle has learned the number one customer problem is finding out too late that chosen products are not fully designed to operate in extreme temperatures.
There are a lot of products on the market claiming to operate at -40C to +75C but, they use “commercial-grade” components that have not been qualified by the manufacturer (OEM) to operate at the claimed temperature ranges. When “commercial-grade” parts are exposed to extremely high or low temperatures, product failures are inevitable. For example, integrated circuits on the PCB overheat causing premature failure of the product. Under-rated connectors do not allow for proper contact between the device and the cables. These failures eventually stop all data communications in these high and low temperature environments.
Perle DIN Rail Ethernet Switches are available for commercial temperature ranges as well as Industrial Extended temperatures. Every component on every industrial model has been designed and tested to handle operating temperatures between -40 and 75C.
All Perle Industrial Ethernet Switches only use high-end components from the leading chip manufacturers to ensure the highest level of durability and reliability. In addition, all units have a corrosion resistance IP30 aluminum case and dual redundant power input with reverse polarity and overload protection.
Perle has been designing industrial hardware for serial Modbus and Profinet to Ethernet conversion environments for over 35 years and have used this expertise to design the toughest Ethernet switches on the market.
