Gaming Innovation Group use Perle Media Converters in new iGaming Cloud Data Center in Malta
10G Media Converters bridge connectivity between Fiber and 10GbE Copper
NASHVILLE, TN — May 30th, 2018 — Online gaming operators are in fierce competition to dominate in a market that is forecast to hit $59.79 billion dollars by 2020*. Often, they will seek out solutions like Gaming Innovation Groups ‘iGaming Cloud’ (iGC) to eliminate technological bottlenecks and significantly reduce costs and lead times.
iGC is a cloud based client management platform offering a full range of services to iGaming operators like payment processing, support services, game management systems, player profiles and real-time data.
The rapid growth of the iGC platform led them to build a new colocation data center in Malta using 10-Gigabit Ethernet over CAT6a throughout. However, when it came time to install equipment, they discovered network connectivity and conversion issues.
Emanuele Lupo, Network Engineer for iGC, explains, We receive IP Services over single mode fiber from our ISP to the data center. In addition, we have equipment using multimode fiber services. We needed a solution that could convert both single mode and multimode fiber to copper.
To bridge this connectivity gap between the fiber and the 10GBase-T copper infrastructure of the new Data Center, iGC uses Perle 10G Managed Media Converters housed in a MCR1900 Modular Chassis System.
Lupo comments, The Perle Media Converters allow us to connect a combination of single mode and multimode equipment to 10GbE copper. We like the flexibility of having different modules in one Chassis.
