Perle Ethernet Extenders enable the transmission of 10Mbps, 100Mbps, or Gigabit Ethernet data beyond 100m (328ft) -- the general maximum cable length for copper Ethernet cables. This is acheived by using advanced VDSL technology to transmit over single twisted pair (CAT5/6/7/8), coax, or any existing copper wiring previously previously used in alarm circuits, E1/T1 circuits, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, CCTV or CATV applications.
In environments where network security is critical, Perle Managed Ethernet Extenders support all authentication, authorization and accounting (AAA) security services used in corporate networks, including TACACS+, RADIUS, LDAP, Kerberos, NIS and RSA. To further protect ID’s and passwords from someone ‘snooping’ on the network, Perle Managed Ethernet Extenders provide secure management sessions by supporting SSH, SNMPv3, Telnet and HTTPS. These features are used when managing corporate firewalls, switches and routers. Therefore, it should be expected that they are available in a Managed Ethernet Extender.
